Glad to hear you are OK with not having the touch screen. BMW probably can't be bothered with the additional QA so just ignore the small number of vehicles affected. I suspect there's a fair bit of work involved in ensuring everything works as expected in a non-touchscreen vehicle hence no updates for me i.e. I never really used the touchscreen in my last car (G01 X3) and once I've got used to how to navigate Car Play with the iDrive controller in the G26 it's not really a problem in terms of operating the car (in fact I think reaching out to tap the touchscreen is more of a distraction given where it's positioned) The dial in my Dad's 2016 Mini Cooper is bloody awful though, and no touch their either, I hate having to fix stuff for my Dad on his car, feels lke such a chore, I feel for you, I really do! Even my 2014 Skoda had a touch screen.īut I do find the dial not bad to use. I am so used to touch screens with phones now, I could not cope without it. Touch screen deletion! idrive dial deletion and touch fuctionality of the dial yes, I've read about that, but touch screen deletion. When I bought (financed) my car the sales guy got overly chatty and told me they're heavily incentivised on customer retention and CSI/NPS scores rather than pure sales volumes so I'll be using that to my advantage. The car will be going for its first service in a month or two at which point I'll be asking for an update and making it clear that a failure to do so at no cost will mean the chances of me ordering a new BMW from them the following year are zero. My guess is that it's the touch screen deletion that means there's no update for me. Now getting close to 2 years since my car was delivered and I've never had a single update (maps update fine OTA).
